Hello, i request through my uscis account an i 90 in September 2024, it's now april 2025. I received a 2 year green card when I should have received a 10 year green card as I only arrived after two years of marriage for my initial arrival date with a cr1 visa (issued before two years of marriage) which becomes ir1 on arrival correct as i arrived after two years of marriage and a few extra days to be safe. Why is it taking many months already? What should I do if the 10 year green card doesnt arrive before the current 2 year green card expires (june 2026)?

It's just the way it is with I-90. Some get processed super fast, others drag.

Can you make an inquiry? Are you within normal processing times?

It looks like 26 months it is currently...

There was one I personally know of that came through a month or so ago, took 16 months.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

My daughter’s has been a year now, but we’re still well within average processing time (2+ years).

But as said above, you just get the I-551 ADIT stamp if needed, you don’t need an Infopass appointment any longer either, they just mail it to you. https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-related-news/temporary-status-documentation-for-lawful-permanent-residents-lpr

As above, we submitted I-90 just over a year ago but expecting to be waiting for another 18 months or so going on current timelines.

Thanks @appleblossom. I checked online and it says I can submit an inquiry after June 21, 2025. Don't know what that means? Makes me very anxious, given they haven't asked for any additional documents or anything so far.

"Your case is processing normally.

The earliest you can submit questions is June 21, 2025. Please do not contact us before this date.

We will notify you if we need any additional information. We appreciate your patience while we review your case. Processing times may change – return to this page regularly for updates."

US definition of normal and most peoples definition of something that probably takes 30 minutes max are different.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

It just means you’re well within the normal processing time. There’s nothing to worry about.

What extra documents do you think they’ll ask for? They probably haven’t even looked at your application yet, it’ll just be sat in a pile waiting for them to get to it, with a line of others ahead of it.

Have you applied for citizenship? If so, you might mind you have that first anyway.

Good luck.
