On July 16 (Interview + 8 days) an oath ceremony was scheduled for August 4. So assuming that goes smoothly it would be Application to Oath in 110 days.

Oath ceremony completed. Scheduled for 12, but really only starts at 1, so make sure your relatives don't mind waiting without you or going to the cafeteria in the meantime. About 100 people from 45 countries. One person had been waiting 36 years for the day. Ceremony was just 8 minutes end to end, had to go to a separate area to take photos.

Overall from filing online to doing the oath was about 115 days. Went smoothly with no RFEs or anything. Did General option (5 years as an LPR) instead of based on marriage, as the latter requires more paperwork (tax returns and such), so I highly recommend the general option if available. On the morning of the ceremony the estimator online still said 2 months lol.

Next up is a passport (can be as low as one day or as long as 6 weeks, depending on how it is applied for), and updating Nexus (Global Entry + Canada) physically at a Nexus office once the passport is in hand, but that should be fine.

Congrats. And good to know because estimator went up to 4 months right after the approved interview. Houston may take up to 6 weeks to get the ceremony scheduled.

Don't forget to update status with SSA.

The checkbox on N-400 doesn't do anything.

When I filed my N-400 the estimate showed 7 months.

The case took 3.5 months.

On day of my oath, it showed 3 weeks until decision.

Unless you want to drive yourself crazy, you can ignore these estimates. They are not accurate at all.

Anything under 12 months is OK. By that I mean not estimate, but you should not be worried until April 2026. If your case is not decided in April next year, then yes, it's time to worry.

Thank you for your response and you’re right. I just hope everything goes well. The anxious part of waiting is crazy lol

I have a question.

My husband received his interview for September BUT its for his i751 to remove conditions been pending since Aug2022.

We also applied for the N400 in April of this year.
His notice only states an interview for the i751 and not n400…. What do you suppose will happen. Will it be a combo is really my question?

Very possibly.  Both spouses should attend, gather all evidence......prepare for a combo interview.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Out of curiosity, why does one need to update their citizenship status with SSA?

@Xhod100 updating citizenship status with SSA is needed for multiple reasons:

1) DMV, IRS etc may use SSA records to determine whether you're a citizen

2) To apply for certain benefits, you need to be a US citizen

3) When you change employers, they perform I-9 verification to determine your status. Best to have up to date records saying you're a citizen. Especially for government jobs etc.

Thank you, makes sense, just wish it really were automatic as they say.
