However, it depends on the case and the officer. Just be aware of what you wrote in your application, because officer said mentioned that many people come to interview and answer opposite of what they answered in the application.

Right, saying A and application and B in the interview is a fraud indicator... If one needs to correct mistakes it's one thing. But if they just say random stuff to officer, that's bad.

During my interview, they didn't ask that much just have a copy of I-864 and I-485 since that's what they asked me and other required documents listed in the interview notice. Have birth certificate with translation, passport id, social security card and evidence other than call logs and pictures. Like bills, joint bank account, car insurance, health insurance, lease which had both names. That is all they asked me.

I prepared so much but they barely asked of anything. Don't be nervous.

This is typical. If you prepare and bring a lot of evidence - you're never asked much. It's folks coming emptyhanded and unprepared who get grilled the most

Ah, so it might be enough already then. I can probably add renters insurance with both our names too, that should be enough.. Phew, that gives me some hope

You are fine with what you have :) And yes go over the Yes/No questions from the I-485 - Specifically have your husband read them aloud to you. It's very different reading them in your head and answering than it is to hear them asked aloud. This helped Jaycel when it came time at the interview for the officer to ask a bunch of these. Did you scan and upload your evidence into the portal under the "Unsolicited Evidence" section?

Most of it has been uploaded so far yes. Some of it was new and I haven't yet, doing it this weekend! I was hoping to get all of it to scan it at once, but issues adding me to the insurance so might as well upload everything anyway.

Do you recommend adding everything in separate files or just one big pdf for all of it?

I'll make sure he remembers that we answered yes to two questions (about breaking visa terms due to my paperwork being rude lol) so we won't get in trouble lol

we uploaded everything separate and named the files based on what it was.

this is probably preferred so the officer knows what to expect when they open the file.

We put everything in one file with a cover letter at the beginning that had a table of contents. Our officer remarked how organized we were :D

My EAD and original birth certificate got taken during my interview and I didn’t receive them back. Is this normal and will I receive my original birth certificate back?

This is not normal. Officers are supposed to make copies of documents such as birth certificate or passport and give it back, unless it was a certified copy.

I know legally USCIS has up to 120 days to give a decision after AoS interview, but reading from this thread it seems like everyone got some sort of update quickly after their interview. Curious, if anyone else is sitting in the waiting boat? We have had the same status, Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS, since August 5 and it clearly states, "Our records show nothing is outstanding at this time."

Our case seems pretty standard with no 'abnormal' circumstances, other than having a court wedding opposed to a ceremonial wedding.

If I am not mistaken, the 120 day law only applies to naturalization interviews. This law does not apply in this case.

With that said, did you have an interview yet?

Yes, our interview was on August 5. Apologies I didn't make that clear in my reply.

@Rachel n Tyler During our interview we did bring the updated vaccination which was handed to the officer in the beginning of the interview. I brought pretty much everything all the letters received from USCIS, NVC, all her Birth certificates and I-94, more pictures and etc but in the end it was only the vaccination and our ID that were needed by the officer. Most of the questions were directed to me mostly basic like where you met, how many times have you visited her.

I did post here how the interview went. Your more than welcome to ask me anything if I can be of any help. 😊

We also filed in March but we are still waiting for our interview to be scheduled.
I know someone who just had theirs scheduled from when they filed in December.  So, I know we may still have a few months.

And keep in mind it is completely dependant on your local field office and what their backlog looks like

Friends of ours had their interview on July 29th and no movement since, other than about an hour after they left the interview, their case status changed to "Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS". I'm in a support chat for folks with cases pending here at the Denver Field Office and some get the approval the next day and many others have waited 60ish days until their case decision.
