Congratulations! It looks like maybe they issued an RFE and then changed their mind? Are there any notices in the documents tab for the I-485 in the portal? Were you missing the Polio vaccine? Jaycel is missing that and her friend in Delaware just had her interview yesterday and got an RFE for the Polio vaccine because SLEC did not have the updated vaccines from the CDC.

There wasnt too.. i checked the issued documents.. last one was the interview notice...

I do not have a polio vaccine too. I only got around 3 more aside from my covid.. which are tdap, mmr, and varicella ones... and i highlighted too that i asked the medical clinic what my tests will be.. but they just brushed me off and say what they are doing are official US tests.

Ay Lord... they are so bad there at SLEC. Well we are going to now do the I-693 Medical Exam (Vaccine Part) and get her Polio Vaccine so that we can give it to the officer at the interview when Jaycel gets one scheduled so we don't get RFE

I had my tests and my papers done in Qatar since im based there..  so i guess its same elsewhere, not a good experience lol.  From setting up an appointment to the appointment date itself, it was rough! Filing our papers here is even smoother and less stressful! Hahaha. They got my date of birth wrong on paper and had to comeback for reprint.. but advised to comeback another day as their IT is out for the day...( that was 10am on a weekday lol) and i got good medical insurance coverage.. if i take tests individually its all free.. but since its a PACKAGE medical for the visa.. I had to pay tons! Its like the medical side is one of my hardest battle in this process... 😂

Jaycel's friend just shared her RFE - She has to submit the I-693 with parts 1-4 completed by the applicant and parts 5, 7 & 10 completed, signed and sealed by the Civil Surgeon documenting the Polio vaccine being administered

So it had to be done by a civil surgeon then?

Okay ill updayte..maybe you guys dont have to stress about this polio vaccine too... esp of the tests done prior to arrival here. They may have different guidelines. What os only odd is there was no RFE..  but there is a cancellation of it.

It probably disappeared from the system after they cancelled it :)

Yes, the I-693 has to be completed and signed by a civil surgeon. There is a box to check on Part. 1, Item. 4 (see below) if you only need the vaccine assessment completed. Just make sure that the civil surgeon you go to will do only the vaccine assessment for you. I've called a couple here in Denver and some say they will only do the full medical exam.

So everyone will need to have to do a medical exam in US? Even though doctor abroad marked that all vaccination was complete. As far as I know, polio vaccine is usually given for newborn babies.

CDC changed the requirements for Polio Vaccine in May 2024 to say that everyone age 2 years old or older needs to get it done or have proof that they had it. I don't know what USCIS does if your medical was done before that change. All I know is that Jaycel and her friend had their medical done after the change and the medical provider did not follow the new guidelines and her friend got an RFE at the green card interview for the Polio vaccine

not necessarily

from the CDC

"All immigrant visa applicants from certain countries are required to receive one dose of inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV), administered within 12 months before travel to the U.S."

so even if you got the polio vaccine as a baby, and have proof, depending on the country you could be required to receive it again.

looks like they may have changed the requirements again according to that CDC link, that was updated May of 2025

unsure if it applies to those from before May 2025 though

@Edward and Jaycel did the friend have proof of receiving the polio vaccine at any point? that could be why it if wasn't given again at their medical

polio is technically a 3 dose vaccine (not required 3 dose like some, but recommended), if it had been a long time (or at all) that might be why they got the RFE for it.

I think that the May 2025 update was to add the "12 months before travel to the US requirement" for the listed countries... The guidance on Polio is still that if you are 2 months old or older you have to get the vaccine or have proof it was administered
