We are in the Consulate of Morocco.

So confused, because when I check the CEAS tracker, the only way to search the Visa is as an Immigrant Visa, which is the DS 260 and I thought my Fiancé needed to fill out the DS 160. I am way over my head and thought maybe I could do this without a lawyer.

Your fiancé will fill out the DS-160. The K-1 is still a nonimmigrant visa, however since it's one of the few nonimmigrant visas where the State Department obviously allows immigrant intent, they will treat it like an immigrant visa. I do not know the procedures in Morocco but perhaps @Jeanne Adil can assist you in their specific procedures

Thank you and did some research and yes, your right about them placing it under Immigrant Visa for the K1 Visa, but one should apply for the Non-Immigrant Visa DS 160.

Of course, we don't have the welcome letter and not sure how long the Consulate of Morocco might take, but since we do have the NVC case I asked my fiancé to start the DS 160 application and pay all fees then we can start gathering all information needed for my finance for his interview. I asked him to start getting his police record, making an appointment for the medical exam but he states that he needs the welcome letter first, not sure how true that is but I know by the time he gets that letter is going to take him another 2-3 months to get an appointment.

Another thing is I wanted to try is to expediate the case it but not sure where I should send my request since it's now at the Consulate of Morocco, would that be something I request through NVC, or should I contact the Consulate/Embassy of Morocco?

Do you guys know if you could use a different passport from the one you submitted for I-129F to fill out DS160 and attend interview?

Not a renewed passport, but a passport from a different region. Both passports state my name and DOB exactly the same....

Well, we got the DS 160 application done but now we are waiting for the K1-FTP which is the welcome letter from NVC, which means I need because I didn't receive an invoice # to pay for the fees for the K1 Visa.

A little confused on that, because online when I google, it states that I don't need an invoice # and I don't pay fees online and that my fiancé will pay those fees at his embassy, but I don't know.

Just confused here.!

You will not get an invoice # for a K-1 visa application. Those are only given to immigrant visa applicants. Depending on your consulate, when you sign up for the website to schedule the interview, you will either pay the fee there or some places have you pay at a partner site or a partner bank there in-country. I know last summer when we did it in Manila, Jaycel had to go to a specific Philippine Bank and pay in cash there with a receipt generated from the website where we scheduled her interview. Once we paid the fee at the bank, they validated the receipt, we had to wait 24 hours for it to be registered in the system and then and we had to input that receipt number into the website before it would allow us to schedule the interview. The K1-FTP letter should come in your email once the case status changes to "In Transit". I know in Manila we had to bring that to the medical clinic to prove we had an active case.

The Consulate for my fiancé is Morocco and for some reason I thought that I had to pay the 1. Immigrant Visa Application Processing Fee and the 2. the Affidavit of Support Fee.

But now that I look at it the K1-Visa is not an Immigrant Visa, it's a Non-Immigrant Visa.

Our Case is already on "READY" but never received the K1-FTP Letter, so the case is now at the Embassy, but I did inquiry through the NVC public inquiry about the K1-FTP letter so let's hope they send me or my fiancé something through email.

Thank you, little by little I am understanding but it definitely is very overwhelming and confusing, so glad for this forum.!

My fiancée took her interview on June 25th. The entire process took roughly 30 minutes from start to finish! Very basic questions were asked.

1. How did you both meet?

2. What does your fiance do for work?

3. Wedding plans

4. Where will you both live

They collected the police certificate, my tax transcript, bank deposit form, DS-160 confirmation page, and the financial support documents.

We were approved on spot and her visa should arrive within a week!

If you have an interview soon, don’t stress! If your documents are solid, you have nothing to worry about.

YAY, Congratulations!!!

So happy to hear this. We are in the process of waiting for the Welcome letter, but we are gathering all the documents needed for his interview and will bring it to him, the good thing is I travel the month of August to see him, and we will have more photos to attach to the book.

I am thinking the only thing he needs from me is my tax transcript, bank information, paystubs and the I-134 form filled out by me, not sure what else is needed from me.

I sent an email to NVC and the embassy of Morocco to try to expedite the process (I have a physician letter) but not sure if it will get approve, so for now they say it takes like 2-3 months to get the welcome letter and instructions on what to do next then another 2-3 months to get a medical/interview appointment, all just takes so much time.

The good thing is I am seeing him in August, and it's been a year since I last saw him  😢

Wow I can’t even imagine being apart for that long…

In my situation, I managed to stay with my partner in Japan for 9 months of this process. Once I left Japan we took turns visiting each other. Next thing you know, her visa interview arrived!

Just remember to stay strong! Double check and triple check all your documents! Everything will be fine!

Hi all,

We are now going to get all documents ready and will be going next month, so excited and hoping for all to go good with his interview.

Our case was sent to the department of state on June 17 but so far we haven’t received any email or case number from NVC yet. I checked the NVC website and they states that they are now working on cases that were received from USCIS on June 30, does it mean that our case got skipped or delayed? My fiancé also filed a public inquiry last week but so far no response.

Just posting here because I have a heavy heart today. We are now still waiting for our NOA2 (july 3rd filer) and it's been exactly 12 months and 1 week. I try not to get too frustrated by this situation as my tracking shows roughly 52 people waiting from June 28th and I feel utterly sorry for them. It's so hard watching people from November get approved whilst we move nowhere. I know there's no fix/answer/solution but just needed to vent somewhere. Truly happy to see more and more people from this thread get further and further along and it really does give me some hope. Any day now I guess.....  🤷🏾‍♀️😞🤞
