Hi,

My husband and I have been living happily in the USA for many years and I have received my American citizenship a couple years ago. We are thinking of starting a family and I would like to move back to Canada with my husband. I'm not sure if I'm in the Canada part of this website, but I tried to. He is worried he would have to renounce his American citizenship. When I got my Canadian citizenship I didn't buy I've heard of you are a USA citizenship moving to Canada you have to. Is this true? Is there a way to have both still for him? Does anyone know anything about starting this process?

I have found nothing which indicates a US citizen must renounce citizenship to become a citizen of Canada. Canada allows dual citizenship....as does the US.

I am a citizen of another country. Will I lose that citizenship if I become a Canadian?

No, that’s not true at all. He’ll end up being a dual citizen of both countries, just as you are.

You’ll need to sponsor him for a spouse visa, start here - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/family-sponsorship/spouse-partner-children.html

Good luck.
