If you do eat bread eat a whole grain bread.

I'm south beaching too (thanks to Rch99) Lost 10.5 lbs so far. Hubby has lost 12 or so as well.

It is so easy after the first two weeks. I don't have any cravings whatsoever. I would never have believed it.

I presume you all know about this website http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com/ (the free one - not the official one). It is a wonderful source of information, support and recipes.

"5. I'm going on a diet called South Beach to lose weight.

Good for you! Congratulations for taking the first step to a hopefully healthier and lighter you! However, and there is always a however, there are two problems here. When you say you are going "on a diet" it kind of implies that at some point you are going to go "off the diet" or that it is a temporary or short term commitment. If you think you can lose weight by eating one way and then go back to your old way of eating that put the weight on in the first place and NOT put the weight on again, you are by Einstein's definition at least, "insane". This is not a "diet" in the short term sense of the word. It is truly a lifestyle change eating program that to be effective over the long term, has to be, well, long term! Use the definition of the word "diet" that means the typical food and drink you regularly consume and you will do a whole lot better than the more normal, but secondary, meaning of a short term plan to lose weight for cosmetic purposes. "

That's the theory wally, but I hate exercise as such, so I am just trying to increase my activity with walks. SB definitely recommends taking exercise too.

I just ate a South Beach Frozen Microwave Pizza, kinda tasty and only 330 calories for the whole thing.

I have been on SB for 3 weeks and have had no temptations. My husband eats all the things on the avoid list, and I couldn't care less. I have lost 12 lbs total since Dec and 5 of those lbs since I started SB. It is the most balanced food I have eaten in my life. I eat so many veggies and good protein it makes you feel good to eat, not guilty. And I am full and satisfied when I am done. It has also taught me a lot about portion control. I am working out and I am losing inches. I have lost over 11 inches since I started eating better in Dec!! and 6 inches since I started SB. It is really exciting and I have stayed motivated!
