Thank God she has your blessing.

Even if the noobs ask questions that you perceive to be stupid does not give you the right to bash them. It speaks volumes about the type of person you are if you think its OK.

A stupid question is one thing.

But a leading question, intended to illicit support for illegal activity, such as immigration fraud? That is a TOS violation. And such threads happen on VJ with some regularity.

What would you have us do? Condone illegal actions? Ignore the thread and not post, possibly allowing someone to proceed down a dangerous and unwise path? Or point out in no uncertain language that their path is harmful? Note that threads are archved, and may be read by others long after. Can you imagine the consequences of not responding strongly, should an innocent newcomer one day come across that thread and get the wrong idea about how to proceed?

So are you saying you are doing VJ some kind of supreme favor?

I can tell you that "you guys" were not the ones who "got their way". We have had numerous PM's from members who were bothered enough to voice their concerns. Ewok stated in his post why he locked the thread.

The only difference in the "nOObs" thread and another site(that is not to be named or linked or you may get suspended )is its ON VJ.

It's not the only difference. No one told the noobs to ####### a dingo in the noobs thread, for example.

My concern was to try to curb the amount of piling on and unnecessary bashing that goes on in the so-called upper forums. I had never even read the noob thread as I prefer to abstain from OT as much as possible.

I appreciate that. And I personally was (and am) open to constructive suggestions, and willing to alter behavior if it's helpfully shown to me how I may do so. I rather thought that's exactly what was going on in THIS thread over the last dozen posts or so. However, before we even reached any kind of consensus here, n00bs was summarily shut down.

The end result though is that a little social circle a bunch of us had to swap stories and jokes and funny pictures (since that's the majority of what n00bz consisted of) is now gone.
