How soon can we have the passports back

Hi all, 

We had our interview Friday morning (15th March) and were approved 🎉

But of course the anxious wait is still not over as we are waiting to see if our passports will be ready to be collected before we fly out on Thursday 😅

Judging from other people’s stories on here, passports are usually ready within 3 working days…but I realize we’re cutting it extremely fine. The reason why we decided to risk it and book the flight for Thursday is because the ticket prices were going up massively from Friday.

We booked flexible tickets so it’s possible to change it in the worst case scenario but there are other consequences like car rental and hotel bookings so I really want to be able to fly out on Thursday…!

I know there is nothing anyone can do about this so I’m not looking for an advice or anything but what do you guys think? Will we get the passports back by the end of Wednesday??

Back when I did mine I walked out of the Consulate with my Passport and Visa.

 

Now the improved service takes a week or so.

 

I suppose it is theoretically possible to get them by Thursday but seems a long shot.

Yes it would be sooo much simpler you could just walk out with your passport in hand 😅

I had my interview (also EB1 - last July) on the Monday afternoon and had passports delivered back on Thursday, so 4 working days in total. I think it's possible, but cutting it very fine as mine was unusually quick - so you'll have to hope yours is too! It's usually 7-10 days or so for passport return. 

 

As said above, does your status say issued? If so, you know the visa has been printed and put in your passport, so there's a good chance it will be back.

It is now Tuesday PM and the status says administrative processing so I am guessing we won’t have the passports back before Thursday 😢

Anyone know if we are meant to receive a notification when the passports have left the embassy?

Everybody has that status. It’s usually a good deal sign as it means final sign off is being done and the visa is being printed - our status was only AP for a couple of hours before it switched to issued.

Yes, you’ll receive texts from DX with tracking info. And your online status will update too, although ours didn’t change until after we already had the passports back!
