Hi all

my son ( my derivative) is moving with me to US . We both are going through immigration and he goes as my dependent.

I got two emails , to my name and his name, for interview invitation. I wonder if kids have to attend or no? He is 12 y.o.

Does anyone know?

Thanks

Yes, not only must he attend the interview, but must get the medical and vaccinations first.  He may not be asked much or anything but they will need his fingers for fingerprinting.

If you are CR1/IR1 (ie., this thread) then he is CR2/IR2 and therefore he is NOT a derivative and presumably has his own case number so he must attend.

Correct, his own petition, case number, medical, and interview.  If he does not have all that, there will be no interview or visa for him.

And, if you got two emails with two case numbers, all is well.  Carry on.

You received two emails for the two separate cases, yes of course he has to attend his interview, and you attend yours.  He will need his own medical as well.
