i-130 approved but...i-824

My i-130 was approved but there was a small error on my application which i had to correct by filing out i-824. it has been 4 weeks so far that i mailed my i-824 and just 2 days ago they CASHED my money order. is that a positive sign that they transferred my case to NVC or dont get my hopes up?

I think that means only that they have the I-824...not that they have processed it.

thats horrible man...paying them 465 to correct a issue in line 61 i believe which they purposely planted there so that people make mistake and they will get 465 from it and on top of that take 1 year to transfer case to nvc....immigration system is a JOKE!!!! all they want is your MONEY

Always amuses me how much they charge for a GC which is nothing more than what your Bank will do for free.

 

Or a Drivers License that costs less than $20.

If I remember correctly, you marked the I-130 for both consular processing and adjustment of status.  When USCIS receives an I-130, they either hold it if Adjustment of Status is marked, or the send it to NVC if consular processing is marked.  In your case, both options were marked, so they need the I-824 to move it to NVC.   Unfortunately, immigration isn't cheap.  There will be more money to pay.

I agree that the fee is far too high, but that question isn't planted, it is necessary. If they didn't ask then how would they know how you intend to apply for the visa? I'm sorry that you misunderstood it, but think claiming they put the question in the I-130 just for money grabbing purposes is a bit much!

 

Hopefully it will take less than a year, we have seen a few recently that have been less than that. Good luck.

I sincerely hope your I-824 is processed soon.  The immigration process takes way too long.....

the only real mistake USCIS makes is using the same form for AOS and spouse visa overseas

have u checked the remaining fees that will need to be paid?

When the case is received by NVC there will be 2 fees(per each  I 130)

$120 to process the I 864

$325 to process the ds 260 

then there are costs for medical exam (not USCIS)

after approval of the visa,  there is a fee to process the green card $220

 

AND don't forget the airfare to bring your spouse here

The CEAC status will change to "At NVC".....and you will receive NVC instructions via an email.

The CEAC status will change to "At NVC" ? only thing i can check now is the USCIS with my case #...currently that shows case approved, case closed..can i check CEAC with my case # or not yet? thank u

Not with a USCIS case number.  Your DOS case # will come in an email after NVC gets the case.
