Hey,

Came to the US a while ago, I am a naturalized US citizen.

My Hungarian passport is due to expire sometimes next year and wondering how to renew it.

My main concerns that I am sure I did not declared that I moved to the US and the bigger concern is that I am gay and married to a US citizen. Does the passport application form asks about it? Sure I did not register the marriage and for sure I think it is impossible since Hungary does not recognize gay marriage.

Sure I can use my US passport to enter Hungary, but I think as a citizen of Hungary I would need to use a Hungarian passport at the border control when entering Hungary.

Hungarian gays (or anybody who has some kind of experience about this were gay married is not allowed and the goverment wants to know your marital status before renewing your passport)  pls unite and let me know if you were able to renew your passport while married to a man in the US.

Feels like you answered your own question. If Hungary doesn't recognize SSM, in the eyes of the Hungarian government, wouldn't they classify you as not married. (Although in a registered partnership).

On a side note, I found this article from 2018.

Actually Hungary does not recognize the marriage as a partnership currently. I’m gay and married to a Hungarian. We currently are living in Hungary and had to go through a lot of hoops to get a new partnership formed so I could stay, since they would not just accept the marriage as a partnership automatically.

I can’t speak for renewing passport if it asks for marriage status but if it does in the eyes of the Hungarian government you are single.

Use your US passport to enter /we travel to Europe in early 2020 and Adil used his US passport /even uses it when he makes a trip back to Morocco

In this case consider yourself a USC

Hungary is a party to the Schengen Agreement, which allows for free movement between certain European countries. U.S. citizens may enter Hungary for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes without a visa.

My Hungarian passport expired in 2017 and I haven't renewed it. I entered and left Hungary several times since on my US passport (staying more than 90 days), I asked them at the border if that's a problem and was told no, they can see my place of birth is Hungary on my US passport and assume I haven't renounced my Hungarian citizenship (I haven't) so no problem....
