Hello!

My husband is here in the US on a J-1 visa. We have been married for 1 year and are just getting around to applying for the green card now. Do I need to apply for my husband to be able to work while waiting for the green card? My husband currently has a job. Will he lose his job if we apply for the green card without applying for him to be able to work while waiting for the green card?

Thanks for your advice!

Yes it is free.

He can carry on working on his J1 for as long as it is valid.

Make sure to file both I-765 and I-131.

Include copy of receipt for I-485.

These forms should be free with pending I-485.
