N-400 Question 19 - Weapons Training - Does CCW Count?

Hi,

I submitted my N-400 around a week ago, and when I got to the following question, I answered NO:

19. Did you EVER receive any type of military, paramilitary (a group of people who act like a military group

but are not part of the official military), or weapons training?

Yesterday I completed a concealed weapons license class. Would this change my answer? I haven't actually submitted the paperwork to the state yet.

If it does change it, how do I proceed?

Thank you!

I'd say yes and list the class name to explain.

Then leave to IO to decide whether it really should be yes or switched to no.

Having submitted my N-400 five days before I took the class, how would I go about updating this on my application? I applied online if that helps.

Every N-400 has an interview.

Interview is a perfect chance to do corrections to application.

You can create an errata sheet describing all changes to N-400 you need to make.

Let IO know before interview starts that you have some answers to update and hand them over the errata sheet.

Great, thank you very much.

Right before you're sworn in at the interview, you'd let the officer know that there is a question that MIGHT need correction. Write an errata sheet, then when you get to that question explain yourself, and let the officer decide. Take all of the relevant documentation.

I never took a CCW class, but my husband has been teaching me how to operate a gun. I answered yes to the question, the officer changed it to "no" and annotated "informal" if that helps

Great, thank you for the information. I'm sure it will be fine as I took the class after submitting my N-400.

Thank you again!

The answers should be accurate and up to date at the time of interview, not just at the time of filing.

If anything on the form changes between filing and interview (like training, arrests etc) - you need to tell the officer.

Yes I plan on bringing an eratta sheet, certificate and anything else that is relevant to it to my interview.
