wow--I beg to differ--have you ever been to any of these countries? The Moroccans I met were more pro-American than most American I know!

Tunisia? really Mark you need to get out more. Morocco has had some problems of late, but there are few muslim countries more tolerant than Moroccans. 70% of the populationis Berber and the leadership is quite modern.

Americans can not wrap their head around the idea of suicide in the cause of war. Think of the kamazi in Japan, no way Americans use this strategy.

Suport of the idea of sucide bombing as a legitimate strategy in war is nto the same as supporting the politics of the current suicide bomber's politics and targets. Many muslims wo aren;t willing to dismiss suicide bombing (read: support it) will also tell you the way it is being carried out- against civillian targets etc... is wrong on all counts.

Moroccans will tell you they were among the first nations (if not the first) to formally recognize the newly independent United States. so there is a long history of friendhsip there. Most moroccans I met over the last 2 years seriously condemn Bush and american policy, but they still can separate Americans from the policy of their government.

The Barbary pirates operated out of Morocco (and others) and 'recognized' the US. As a big juicy source of money and hostages to be sold as slaves.
