Hello forum, I am a nurse in the Philippines currently working and my fiancé is in the us. He has been at his job for two months and will be moving into a new apartment. He has an employment gap from 2018 to 2023.
He is planning on filing the petition when he moves out because he needs to end a domestic partnership. I am considering going to Canada as a tourist and then finding employment through an lmia? Approved employer to stay on a work visa. We would like to know from people on this forum if this will be a good idea and are there any issues with our situation that may cause difficulties in us getting the k1 approved

As long as you don't end up staying illegally in Canada or getting in trouble with the law while you are there, staying or working legally in Canada will not cause issues with your K1 process.  Make sure that you apply for or renew your NBI clearance before leaving the PH as it's more of a hassle to get your clearance while you are abroad.  You will need your PSA CENOMAR as well, but you may order that online, and you should do so only within 6 months of your visa interview.

Also, if you are going to meet your fiance in Canada anyway, why not get married and pursue CR1 spouse visa instead?  You didn't mention having any 18+ year old kids, so not sure why K1 would be better in your case.

Could be tricky getting in to Canada as a visitor if your aim is to find a job and stay, make sure you have ties to the Phillipines still - and the job hunting/LMIA process can easily take 6 months, so make sure you have funds to support yourself whilst unable to work, and good insurance too. Of course, this assumes you're already licensed to work as a nurse in Canada?

nurses are needed in Canada and the US

Why not apply for jobs, then  work permit

if u apply tourist visa,   and are honest about looking for work ,  the CO should deny

or if u get the tourist visa and come with all your paperwork to stay and work,  border patrol can deny entry as that's the wrong visa to work
