Biometrics threads....maybe we could have a sticky in the AOS forum

We actually had someone post a thread about Biometrics who thought that it was a coded USCIS medical....like having a chip put into your hand that made you trackable  some people!!

It took quite a few of us to explain it was nothing like that..but just fingerprinting and a photograph depending on the ASC number on the biometrics appointment notice. The OP settled down after that.

The overall layout of this place is very very confusing

How would you improve it (I am open to any useful ideas to make things better)? One of the most difficult things to do is to merge tons of information together in a meaningful and easy to use way. I try my best but there are always ways and places that things can be improved :).

How would I improve it? Off the top of my head?

Firstly, before a new member registers, they get escorted through a brief friendly tutorial of the site.

Secondly, the links in the blue row beneath the photos of the 'happy couples' would be in red.

Thirdly, the immigration timeline function found in that row would be modified to give the 'filer' participants a better way to find their 'filing buddies'.

Fourth - the Regional Forums would be modded to keep them to their original purpose - socializing. Immigration info would be moved to it's appropriate forum. In this vein, it might be a good idea to set up Regional Subforums under the Consular section.

Fifth - Do away with the K1 SubForum. It's a wreck.

Sixth - Establish a "yippee" forum where all good immigration news could be posted. It might give the 'newbies' a glimpse of what's down the road for them.

Go have a look at the elitist July AOS thread, they are currently 'not accepting' any new July people unless they have a July 25 or earlier NOA date. Cuz apparently July 26-31 are not valid JULY dates.....!?!?!?!? Seriously? Really?

Also, the amount of misinformation/hysteria being spread in there is damn scary.

VJ SHEEEEEESH.

very well said RJ. I especially like the re-vamp of regional forums are they are most definitely different than what they SAY they are.

And the K1 subforum - agreed. :help:

Since when was July 25 thru 31st not part of july???? this is news to me  and here was me thinking that july 31st was the last day of july.

I think the July filer thread is very unfair to those with NOA dates July 25th - 31st!!!! they aren't considered August filers!! so basically they are left on their own :(

These are great ideas.

My only concern with #4 is that by splitting up the consulate forum into regional subforums, that'll cause a lot of confusion - a lot of general information goes through that forum for many, many processes. Personally, I like the way the regional subforums are at right now. While the original intention was to make them a "socializing" forum for people within the region, some people also feel comfortable asking immigration-related questions there.

I'm all for #1, as I'd like to decrease the number of "please read the guides!" answers that we seem to be directing at people who have no idea where the guides are, or what they even are.

...that thread freaks me out. -_-

Honestly, if we're going to keep our K1 filer subforum, it's only fair to open an AOS subforum just so relevant information doesn't get lost in the histrionics.

Hi jerricho, our cut off date was July 25th, Wednesday. Most likely, your NOA1 notice date will be sometimes in August, so your best bet is to get your info into the August Filer thread. Good luck.

I'm shocked at the arrogance in this post/thread. They cannot discount the July 26-31 filers!!!

umm, I am not sure what you are reading but I didn't see anywhere where it was not allowed to add those dates... all I saw was someone mentioning that the dates they were going by was the date the package was received at the service center not the date the package was mailed out....

Read my latest post. It clearly says he is 'cutting off' the other filers.

i was reading the wrong thread sorry...

but still, they are going by the date the package was received or the NOA1 ... it is not like they are banning people or something....

Just got online and got the noticed that USCIS has received our application today. Let the journey begin! :D

Ok, cancel that. I missed the post about the cutoff for the July filers being on the 25th. I'll just wait until August :)

Sarah08, when your NOA1 arrives and the actual NOTICE DATE is a July date, come on back to report and we'll gladly include you in our list. :)

and the person didn't seem to upset about it...

Who cares if they were? The point is, it's not July 31st yet so I hardly think the poster can say they are not July filers. WHo knows what their NOA1 dates will be? The July filers won't even know all the July NOA1s until mid-August anyhow.

well, it is not like they totally banned the person from posting in that thread etc... and left it open that if she/he did get a July NOA they would be included....

Thats not really the point. The person could have been added to the July filer list until the NOA, was received if then if the noa was an august date then this person would simply have transfered to the August thread.

Just my opinion.
