This is an IR1/CR1 thread and spreadsheet. Your parents fall under IR5.

Folks, I was originally DQ'd on 3rd October 2021 but then recently I updated my wife's naturalization certificate on CEAC portal and also sent a public inquiry stating that she has become the US Citizen with document attached. NVC has replied back in just a week that they have updated my file from F2A to IR1 on 25th September 2023, I have confirmed that on CEAC portal it now shows IR1 However under my wife's document section on portal the uploaded naturalization certificate still shows "Submitted" where as other documents are showing as "Accepted".

 

Does that mean my new DQ date is now 25th September 2023? and it will take 4-5 months time for me to receive the interview letter?

Your original DQ date will have started the process toward the interview. When you submit additional documents those are used to update your file. The email stating you are DQ'ed is the most important to move you on to the next stage. What that means is the NVC found your case acceptable to be moved to a live interview (In your case the Montreal consulate) for final decision.  The other documents will now be included in your file, or used to update your file.

So In that case, you are suggesting that I should be expecting an interview from Montreal Embassy in next round?

I do have a DQ email from Oct 3rd 2022 so I think it aligns with what you said.

Not necessarily, it can take a couple months (or more). You might get lucky, or you may have to wait. I believe the average is around 2-4 months from the DQ to the IL for Montreal. After that another 2 months +/- until the live interview date. This will give you time to complete the medical and book travel. 

 

I just realized you listed your DQ date as Oct 3rd 2022. That is a year ago. Have you made a public inquiry into your case?

Yes, I have made couple in past month.

One for changing the category from F2A to IR1 and the second one is to just check on the process and how long it will take.

Question - is there a way for a beneficiary come to the US while waiting for the IL/interview, and change to adjustment of status? Curious, because I know it's getting hard for a lot of people; my husband is struggling financially to keep a place to live and so forth, just wondering if there's something we could do, and if it would lengthen the process.

A person cannot enter the US as a non-immigrant with the intent to stay and adjust status.  Doing that would be visa fraud.  The only exception is a person who enters via a K-1 visa.

I kinda figured. I didn't know if there was an option when an application is already in process and waiting at NVC, to switch from consular processing. But good to know!
