So I'm sure a lot of us have heard MANY things and think different things about the new fees affecting the California process times.

I've heard that it will not have much affect at all, maybe only slowing the system by 2 weeks or so.

`

I've heard that process times may go faster!

`

I've heard that NOA2's may take up to 6-8 months

`

I've heard that the CSC will fall off the United States along with the rest of Southern California and sink to the bottom of the Pacific before any of us get approved.

It's safe to say, I've heard it all.

So....what do all of you guys think?

Don't hold your breath for faster processing. Uping the fees does not translate to updated equipment, and processes over-night, it will take a few years for changes to be noticed.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Maybe, just maybe, since lots of people submitted AOS to beat the fee increase, more of the cases will be transfered to CSC and they can get their GC without an interview.

Just my theory of course.

Sweet, a thread dedicate to rumors and rehashed complaints about the fee increase. It's been - uh - minutes since we last saw one of these!

Sorry, I shouldn't be snarky - but some googling - on and off VJ - will help tremendously when it comes to this topic.

In super-super brief:

1. the fee increases aren't meant to speed up processing times. they are meant to maintain current times and prevent a new backlog.

2. i don't think the fee increase and the new allocation of petitions between SCs are part of the same process. so either can have an influence, or one, or the other, or both. two big variables are not good if you want a sound prediction.

3. tossing a bunch of rumors on here is like casually wandering around a refinery with a pack of matches. those who know how to handle such things won't get burned, others will ignite themselves in a panic of rumor-fueled frustration and end up getting hurt.

as said - no one knows what exactly will happen until it does, though i think sound predictions may be arrived at with enough research. and that means research on www.uscis.gov NOT research of other people's sourceless rumors on VJ.

A thorough Google search will reveal congressional testimony and other documents wherein it's been stated a large part of the fee increase will go towards speeding up security checks. It makes the most sense, since the REAL mandate of DHS is national security, not how fast they process cases.

The fee increases are a natural result for an activity that is funded by fees when new and additional and stricter requirements are added to their workload by new laws. There have been alot of added requirements in the recent past without a fee increase -- it's time to pay the piper.

I think we should just sit back and wait for our NOA2's, however long it takes. No other choice, really. I can't be arsed speculating about this. I'm just grateful I have the option to bring my fiance to the US and will wait it out, no matter how long it takes.

As a former southern Californian (who had to field panicked phone calls from relatives any time we had even an earthquake so minor the dog didn't notice it), that made coffee come out of my nose! Well, at least it eliminates the problem of Texas or Nebraska possibly getting wiped off the map by a tornado before they get any of our petitions sent out there.

I'd guess the change in filing location may help some in the long run--after all, it is a much more even division--but it will take a while for them to adjust to it. But that is a guess, and as others have said, there really isn't much of a way to know.
