I-130-Passport information question. Please help!

Good Evening,

I am working on I130 for my parents, and I have a difficulty with one question. Can anyone please help?  The form is asking:  if my mother has ever been in US. Yes, she visited us in March 2022 using  her old passport, and then she had to renew it. She received a different passport with a new number. The form is asking what visa category it was and for passport number.

Which passport number should I identify?1) the old one that she used to travel here in March? 2)the new one she recently received?

Thank you!

Tatyana.

Thank you! I will try not to, lol

I was thinking they might want her new passport, she will use it to travel here, if approved, I know it is a long shot. But trying to avoid any misunderstanding...

Down the road will they be asking a passport information? I want to give them a new passport information, the one she is going to use to travel?

Thank you!

Always think about what form is being completed and what its for… the I130 is about establishing your relationship (as petitioner ) to the beneficiary. . At this stage no one in immigrating..yet..  after the petition (I130) is approved then the beneficiary actually applies for a visa .. thats when the current passport info is needed.

It makes total sense.

Thank you so much!

Hello,

I have one more question. Can you please advise if I am supposed to give my ELIS number and A number? I found old topics from 2010, stating yes, even if you are a citizen, you are supposed to provide both numbers.

Is it correct?

Thank you!

Tatyana.

If the form asks.. and you have ever had an A number and /or ELIS account then yes .. but these are not  deal breakers.. sometimes people cant find what their account # .. A number is on your naturalization certificate
