Is Spouse / Petitioner expected to come to the interview with me?

Hi,

My wife (petitioner) and myself both live in the UK - is she expected to be at my interview?

She has shown domicile via documents on CEAC that got accepted, I'll bring them to the interview as well.

According to the email I received from the embassy I should follow https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-10-prepare-for-the-interview/step-11-applicant-interview.html

Where it states "You, your spouse, and any qualified unmarried children immigrating with you, must participate in the interview."

Right underneath though it states "Your sponsor/petitioner does not attend the visa interview."

It feels slightly contradictory.

My wife is going to come to London with me so she can go with me but I read that it's not necessary on here.

She can also give me her passport to take in with her if that helps?

Thank you.

Your wife is not required to attend the interview because she is not migrating with you; she's already a USC & she's also your petitioner/sponsor.

However, if the embassy will allow her to enter the premise with you, then sure she can tag along as your emotional support.

Ah thank you, that makes more sense!

Your wife is not immigrating, she is just moving to America. The wording would fit somebody on a work visa who is bringing the whole British family along.

Having the wife at a London interview doesn’t help or hurt you. Doesn’t matter at all. If you want her to come in with you, there is a request form to fill out ahead of time so her name is on the list outside when you check in.
