Do I need spouse's original birth certificate for n400 interview??

Hi All,

Quick question- I have my N400 interview in 2 weeks. The 797C letter asks for my spouse's birth certificate.

Does it need to be original? certified? Can I bring a copy?

It is probable a copy will suffice. As would an original passport. 
 

It is even probable the IO won’t ask.  
 

It is possible though you will get an RFE.   RFEs should be avoided especially if the IO is otherwise inclined to approve your case or even schedule a same day oath. 
 

BTW few jurisdictions issue original birth records of birth.  They issued certified copies. This is apparent in the use of the term “certificate”. The root word of “certificate” is “certify”

I agree, best to get the BC with the certified stamp.
