Preclearance Question

Hello once again.

I'm currently waiting on my DQ and trying to be  little proactive.

I am a Zimbabwean living in the UK (England), set to interview in London.

I was reading up on preclearance and was wondering if anyone could help me with a few questions. 

If I got a ticket to the States that flew through Dublin (IE: London-Dublin-USA point of entry)to take advantage of the preclearance option, would I need a transit visa? Or would my ticket showing onward flight on the same day be enough? I don't intend to leave the airport at all. I'd just rather get the the immigration check sorted before I fly.
