Hello everyone! šŸ˜Š

I am a bit confused about the DS-260 and the question about my primary occupation. Iā€™m working in an office in full time currently, nothing special. Thereā€™s a list full of occupations and I just chose ā€œothersā€, is that correct?

Ā

Also, I was wondering, if I donā€™t have to provide any previous jobs from the last years?Ā
Ā

And then thereā€™s another question about what I want to work as in the US, and I again chose ā€œOthersā€ and wrote down ā€œOffice job/Administration jobā€, is that alright?Ā
Ā

Thank you so much šŸ˜ŠĀ

Iā€™m not sure of the exact options on the DS-260 but words like ā€œclerkā€ and ā€œassistantā€ often cover job titles and descriptions of people who handle the kinds of jobs that you seem to describe.

Ā

The key here is to be honest and present as much information as you can that answers the questions. If you donā€™t, thatā€™s where issues come.

Ā

A big thing here is no gaps in your employment history. If you didnā€™t work for part of a period that theyā€™re asking to know your employment history, say ā€œunemployed.ā€ Otherwise give details of the job.

Ā

Leaving out anything the form asks for (and mentioning things beyond what the form asks for) are unlikely to be helpful and could hurt your case.

Thereā€™s nothing like clerk or assistant available. Thereā€™s just like bigger option as ā€œbusinessā€, ā€œagricultureā€ or ā€œgovernmentā€ etc., so I donā€™t think anything fits to that. And if you choose ā€œotherā€ you can fill out a description about it. Itā€™s just a regular job.Ā

Ā

Also, thereā€™s no space to write down an employment history.Ā
