Hi VJ experts!

im trying to get an appointment to register my son, who qualifies as a US citizen born abroad. I check every single day and all the appointments are gone!

can someone please help? We are due to travel 28th may and I understand he isn’t allowed to travel to the US on his UK passport.

I also understand that if travel is within 5 days we can request an urgent appointment.

Is that really reliable? Surely it would take 5 days for them to get back to us!

can someone share any advice on how to get an appointment or if we can’t, when we should request an urgent appointment.

thanks!

Try LondonACS@state.gov. Shouldn't be that difficult getting an appointment these days with all restrictions lifted in UK.

Options:

1. Assert constitutional right to enter the USA without a USA passport.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_passport

The lack of a valid passport (for whatever reason, including revocation) does not render the U.S. citizen either unable to leave the United States, or inadmissible into the United States. The United States is a signatory of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which guarantees residents of its signatories wide-ranging rights to enter or depart their own countries. In Nguyen v. INS, the Supreme Court stated that U.S. citizens are entitled "...to the absolute right to enter its borders."[53]Lower federal courts went as far as to declare that "...the Government cannot say to its citizen, standing beyond its border, that his reentry into the land of his allegiance is a criminal offense; and this we conclude is a sound principle whether or not the citizen has a passport, and however wrongful may have been his conduct in effecting his departure."[54] Therefore, even in the absence of a valid passport, U.S. citizens are not denied entry into the United States, though these travelers may be delayed while the CBP attempts to verify their identity and citizenship status.[55]

2. Travel to Canada on UK passport, walk into Canada and identify as a USA citizen at port of entry.

For options 1 and 2, apply for a USA passport and passport card once inside the USA.  Once successfully obtained, file N-600.

3. Just apply for USA passport at the embassy.  Once inside the USA, apply for a passport card and file N-600.
