Hello! I have been married for 3 years but I have not reported my marriage in the Philippines. What’s the advantages and disadvantages of updating our records in the Phils?

My Philippine passport is still under my maiden name. It will be expiring soon but I have no immediate plans of visiting our country. If I am to renew it, I can still use/keep my maiden name. To those who renewed your passport, how long did it take?

Salamat po.

If you have not filed your ROM, your only option is to renew your passport in your maiden name.  DFA requires a PSA marriage certificate or ROM if you ever want to use your married name on your passport.
