My wife and I had the Green Card interview on July 2nd and everything went very very smoothly. To say that I was a little nervous the weekend prior to the interview would be an understatement. I was a nervous wreck all weekend.

Well all my worrying was for nothing, the interview itself was very very easy with very little questions. All she asked was our birthdays, home address, & home phone number.

I will say that according to our interviewer the most important thing for her was seeing pictures of the wedding with family involved. In her own words, "People will not have a fancy wedding with family and guests if the whole thing is fake." So be sure to include lots of wedding photos as well as photos with family.

On another note, remeber to get the medical stuff taken care of a few weeks before the interview, and if you have a copy of the vaccinations prior to entering the country, take those with you to the doctors office. It will save you quite a bit of money.

Does anyone know the rhyme or reason why some must got to AOS interviews and some aren't required to?

During my interview, the interviewer refused to look at any of our photos telling me that "photos are too easily staged, and prove nothing."

Just goes to show, each interviewer has different ways of gauging whether a couple is real.

Also, I think having "fancy wedding photos" is not a good measure of whether a relationship is real at all. My parents were married in a registry office and only have a single photo of the event, and yet they have been married for 38 years.

Yeah for us, we had a wedding done by a justice of the peace in his home. We weren't dressed up and there was no family or friends present. In fact, we don't have photos of us with family at all. Just some photos of us with some of my friends from Canada and some other mutual friends in the U.S. The rest of the photos are just us together in various places.

Some people (like us) just aren't into the whole big fancy traditional wedding. Hope that doesn't have any bearing on my interview... I would hope not!

actually we never had a wedding pics at all since here in colorado you're entitled to marry without a witness, priest/rev, judge lol you can marry yourself. and thats what we did since we're in a hurry to pass the aos... we worried about that a lot so i bring a lot of photos during our trips out of state and with his family and friends... the officer didnt actually ask for it  ... my husband even beg the officer to look our photo because he said i spent a lot of time preparing it

I'm curious about wedding pictures. It makes sense for K-1s to show lots of wedding pictures to prove a marriage is real. But is it bad for people who suddenly decided to get married (i.e. entered the US without the intention of immigrating) to show wedding pictures? My husband and I decided to get married and threw everything together in like two months... but we did have a dress and tuxedo, and even had a small tented reception in a friend's backyard after a 'ceremony' in a public park, thanks to generous donations from both our families. I'm hesitant to take those to an interview for fear that it would look suspicious to an interview officer. I mean, it would look like we had enough time to plan so I'm worried they would ask how did we NOT plan it before my husband came into the country, you know what I mean? But we do have the contracts that show everything being reserved like one or two weeks before the wedding haha. I mean we really busted our butts to put together a semi-normal wedding in a couple months, both for our and our families' memories. But I don't want it held against our case.

I now pronounce us, man and wife... I will now ravishly kiss the bride.

We were married in a civil ceremony in New York City. We are still planning our bigger more formal wedding in the near future. We're thinking April/May 2008.

EDIT: I just read that you can't actually ceremonize your own wedding. But I still think it's funny if one could. I would probably say the foregoing.

Check this out...

My sister and her husband told everyone not to bother taking pictures as they would take care of it with their "$900" digital camera (she had to let us know how much they paid). We told her we needed them for immigration. So a week after the wedding we give her our email address to send the photos. No problem, she would "get right on it". A month or two pass and I ask again. Yeah, we were kind of busy... "I'll get right on it"! Fast forward to a week prior to the initial (cancelled) interview. "Uh sorry, we must have deleted them"! #######! We couldn't believe it! She had photos from HER trip to Mexico, HER trip to Colorado, HER trip to Canada! "Oh well, it was just an accident!" This woman would never talk to us again if we did that to her! Even if it was an accident! Not one single wedding photo! Now I may have to explain all of this to an immigration officer! UGH!!!

...Deep breath...

Ok... I'm done now...

I feel much better...
