Our attorney sent me a form requesting we write a letter only 4-5 paragraphs and explaining how we met and how our relationship evolve and to marriage .

here is my question

we went to a different city in South Africa  to get Married. The family and friends were not able to attend . It was just the pastor and his two witness

however

Few days later we did a Union gathering at my husband aunt place . Where family and friends came .

on this letter should we explain why we went to another city to get married ? Or just write the letter without it ?

Guess this is for filing the petition?

If so, why is the attorney requiring such letter? Nowhere in the form or instructions a letter explaining the relationship is mentioned.

The documents you should send as evidence as per the instructions, are:

(1)  Documentation showing joint ownership of property; (2)  A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence, meaning you  both live at the same address together; (3)  Documentation showing that you and your spouse have combined your financial resources; (4)  Birth certificates of children born to you and your spouse together; (5)  Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship.  Each affidavit must contain the full name and address of the person making the affidavit; date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit; and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage; or (6)  Any other relevant documentation to establish that there is an  ongoing marital union.

I think a letter explaining why you don't have some of the relevant documents mentioned above would be more useful that one giving a detailed account of how your relationship evolved.

And hope you don't mind me asking but why did you hire an attorney? Is your case difficult?

But why open that can of worms just have pictures of the Union party so they can see ya'll with friends and family. Why tell them you went off somewhere else to marry and NO Family was there. RED FLAG for real.

Relationship timelines can be good sometimes telling that info you mentioned NO.

When I filed mine, the cover of my Evidence of Relationship packet (pics, plane ticket, etc) is a letter...
Dear Immigration Officer,
This is to request your good office to grant petition for my husband, ___.  We recently got married last...and told them a summary of my story... followed by index list of what to expect in following pages.

Example:

Page 2-x - Pictures of our wedding on __ at __

Page x-x - Pictures of Wedding Celebration on __ at __

page x -x - boarding passes, tickets, trips,

etc, etc,,

All in all i got 49 pages.

You can say you had a solemn wedding union... and that celebration with friends on date... Your pictures will show story..

(I had 5 mini reception last year - different dates - due to covid protocols (cannot have more than 10 in a gathering)...

you describe your photos.  each photo you upload, you place date, who are you with.  Like with my father-in-law, name... instead of my spouse' father..
(just saying base on my experience)

Why giving details they did not ask for?

As other member mentioned, that's opening a can of worms.

Keep it simple.
