Hi. I submitted my I-130 in December 2021. The receipt says Nebraska Svc Center. The current processing times are 4-7 months according to the websites. What will be the next step upon approval of the I-130? Is this when I will need a sponsor and will I need to fill out another form and mail it to the NVC? Your help is appreciated as I am trying to prepare for the next step.

Kind Regards

Hello.  The guides here on VJ is a good place to look for that information.  Go to the blue bar at the top of this website or the 3 horizontal menu bar of the mobile site and look under "Guides".

When my I-130 has been approved then I assume I will receive some kind of notice. Upon receiving that notice do I need to take some kind of action or will I need to wait for them to send something to the NVC? If so, will the NVC contact me themselves?

Your status will update in the case tracker when your I-130 is approved. No email will be sent but you will receive a NOA2 approval letter by mail. You can use the Lawfully app which will send a push notification to your phone if you don't want to be manually checking the case tracker. Once USCIS sends your documents to NVC, and NVC creates your case, they will send a welcome email to both the petitioner and beneficiary. It will contain the instructions for starting the NVC process. The first step will be to log into their website and pay the AOS and IV fees. NVC's emails/website will walk you through everything.
