Hi everyone,

How long does it generally take for k-1s to get their interview date after receiving your case number from NVC?

I received my case number from NVC on Oct 12th but the status is still saying "At NVC".

P.S. My interview will be in Barbados, for anyone who has had experience with this embassy can you also share what it was like?

Thanks!

Pre-COVID, generally a month to ship the case from NVC to the consulate. After which, you wait for the consulate to process your paperwork, send you instructions, set up the interview etc - that varies per consulate.

Post-COVID, it’s impossible to answer. Some people have been “at NVC” since March 2020 (beginning of pandemic). My case was “at NVC” for a month and a half (post covid time) and that was with the consulate fully open and processing K1s. So 10 days so far in your case is nothing compared to what’s going on. You should find out if Barbados is processing K1s and at what pace - visit the consulate website, check out the regional forum here on VJ for the Caribbean, see timelines for those going through Barbados.

It really depends on the embassy. NVC will send cases to embassies on the 26th and 27th next week (I believe they send every other tues/weds - the schedule was shared a few pages back on this thread) and they're usually received in 2–3 days (shipping with DHL).  But no guarantee you'll be in that shipment. The time to interview is then up to the embassy and you having all your forms done etc. If you go to your timeline you can see similar timelines and get a sense from that.
