Error in Marriage Certificate

Hi All,

I'm a US citizen originally from Morocco, divorced in the USA and remarried in Morocco. My moroccan marriage certificate ( Acte de mariage)  shows that I'm "single" instead of "Divorced" and I'm wondering if this will be a major problem once I start the visa process for my moroccan wife to come to the USA, since I have to submit my divorce decree, and there will be a discrepancy in that regard.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thank y'all!

No,   after u divorce ,  u are single again

on my marriage papers (Arabic) the court clerk used my maiden name (like on birth certificate they had) and all other (passports and DL, etc ) were in married name of my late husband and that is how i signed .   no issues

just make sure the English translation document submitted to NVC is the same as the original  she will take to interview

one person had an issued with 2 different translations (done by 2 different certified agencies)

important thing on the marriage certificate is the raised stamp on original, all the other stamps showing recorded certificate and believe it or not , the paper size of the Morocco certificate as the paper size is different than US

Make sure she has original of your divorce papers and in case they are kept with immigration,  u should have a set for your records

AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ,  DO A TIMELINE AND KEEP IT CURRENT    / this is the only way we can help sometimes

Whether it is appropriate to say one is single when actually divorced, depends on who is asking and why.  I don't know the official standard procedure in Morocco, but either way, I don't see an issue with the marriage certificate.

no proof needed in Morocco as he already married

my tax documents said i was single as single taxpayer and the judge said i was widowed (not even a place for that on tax papers as i am not widow with qualifying child and not married /  so the judge made the papers into widow   /  Basically judges in Morocco want 100 dh (10 USD under the table to approve marriages and each judge defines what he accepts)

but for this interview,  the Morocan is now married /  his marriage document when stamped in Rabat is all the proof needed for married / its the raised stamp and all the other numerous stamps with judge's signature that counts/

For information only to  VJ community

when we marry in Morocco the country keeps our originals of birth,  former divorces,  death certificates,   IRS transcripts (or other proofs of income)/  we don't get the originals back so anyone going there to marry ,  better have duplicate copies of these for his/her own records
