Hello everyone,

We received our NOA2 7/8/21 and on the sheet it states the processing time is ~30 days for the NVC.  We still have not seen anything in the mail from the NVC, no case number, etc.

Is this normal due to the backlog that Montreal has right now or should they have sent something?  I'm on the line right now trying to get an update on the case.  Just wanted to see if this is typical or not.

Also, regarding the DS-160, once we get a case number the DS-160 can be filled out correct?  No need to wait until P3 is issued?

I was approved on June 23rd and then for some reason I was "approved" again on July 20th.. fastforward 7 weeks later and my case was recently received by NVC on September 8th. They haven't created a case number yet.

For some reason they are taking 60+ days to receive the cases.

As for the DS-160 I believe you can start gathering documents, proofs etc and you should file it once your case is at the embassy.

How were you notified that they received the case?

Is Montreal even conducting interviews in September? I saw timeline on VJ and there hasn't been any interviews since August. What the hell is going on?

We all have been asking that question for a year now and yet no one knows. We can only guess k1 got a big push a few months  back clearing a few months of backlog so now all family based interviews are around sept oct months Dq date. It may seem like no one got interviews but remember only a few ppl sign up on here or post. We seen it with the numbers for cr1s.

As for cases at nvc .... they did put out a short but sweet notice that they will b slowing down Dq dates to help with the backlog at consulates. In turn causing more backlogs in different areas. That being said nvc in swimming in backlogged cases from all visa categories so it seems they are being slower. I got my notice in 1-2 days but that was now almost 1-2 years ago.

If you don’t mind, could you clarify your comment on the push of K1 visas?

I’ve been looking at the spreadsheet for the MTL consulate, and it seems like late Jan/early Feb NOA2s are getting their interviews scheduled.

My NOA2 was on April 27, and I’m thinking I might have my interview by end of this year. This process has been really hard so I’ve been searching the internet everywhere for information, lol.

Ahh, makes sense. I’m a K1 filer and based upon that spread sheet I’m thinking my interview may be at the end of this year. Thanks for your response and best of luck to you and your spouse.
