Hello..Maybe this is a silly question but my husband is looking for a new job, I am a K1 visa holder, we got married and applied for AOS with his current job.. If he gets a new job, what do we have to do? Filling out a new affidavit of support form for the day of the interview or do we have to send it before that? Also , if we show a new  form is that going to delay the process?

Also I also had my biometrics appointment some days a go, and I wonder how long do you have to wait for the final interview after having your biometrics appointment?

Because If its happening soon I think its better to wait and tell him to stay in his current job, I dont wanna add more complications to the process by filling out those forms again, its just that there are different reasons why he has to quit. Thank you.

Our income changed between the time we applied for AOS and the time of the interview. We took an updated I-864 with us. We were approved on the spot that day, and my husband's green card arrived soon after.

Ah yes. My field office is Jacksonville, Fl.

Jacksonville typically takes 1-2 years to process i485s, so if you just filed in May you’re unlikely to have an interview any time soon. https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Yeah thats horrible.. I wonder if its taking that long in average or is it just our city? I knew i shouldnt have expectations but the fingerprint appointment gave me hopes maybe things were moving forward ..

that’s pretty average. Some are better but some can go up to 3 years! It’s unfortunate you didn’t realize in advance how long the process can take - it is a known drawback of entering on K1 rather than CR1.

You did apply for i765 and i131/p (EAD and AP) as well, I hope?

Yes i did. Thank you for your advice. With the pandemic and all that, we realized right at the beginning of this process we should have applied for a CR1 instead. We applied for a K1 right before the pandemic hit so there was nothing we could do. Its a bit deceiving, you choose the K1 because you think things will happen a bit faster and its not that at all. With a CR1 you dont have to worry about any AOS or anything like that.

I guess now patience is all we need. Thank you!

What about getting a new job in the process? Should we just fill out a new affidavit form and just bring it to the final interview or there is something else that needs to be done?
