I began the process of applying for an L1-B visa back in Jan 2020 and first scheduled an appointment at the US Embassy in London in June 2020. At around that time Trump's visa restrictions began and expired 31st March 2021, which naturally held up the progress of my application. Within the last month I've had an appointment I had booked for Aug 2021 cancelled and rescheduled for Feb 2022.

This process has been very frustrating, as I'm sure the past year has been for a great many people. I don't have a great deal of confidence that the appointment that I have scheduled for Feb 2022 with go ahead either because the message I received when my Aug 2021 appointment was cancelled said that they could not confirm when routing visa services would resume.

I'm currently speaking with my Immigration Counsel to determine whether I would be eligible for an appointment expedition. I believe that I may have a valid case since my company is in desperate need of someone with my skills in the US, and this requirement has become more urgent over time.

Is anyone able to give me some insight into why L1 visa appointment was cancelled given that the visa restrictions have been lifted? And whether this appointment that I have booked for Feb 2022 is likely to go ahead.

Also, if anyone has any advice or experience regarding appointment expedition visas at the London Embassy currently, I'd greatly appreciate the information.

You can always ask for an expedite, and of course lots of people are, whether your situation is good enough to obtain one is another matter.

There is a massive backlog and the presumption is that they are prioritizing higher categories, spouses etc.

See Section II on this London Embassy page

Check how many L1s have been issued by month here.

I didn't know this existed! It's reassuring that London are issuing at least *some* L1 visas.

I'll be requesting an expedite soon. I'll update this topic with my case and result when I get an response.
