USPS strikes - lost mail

USPS Informed Delivery showed that a letter from USCIS (NOA1) was supposed to get delivered, but it never made it to my mailbox. The post office is giving me the run around, so I have no idea what the NOA1 stated, nor do I have my receipt number.

 

Has anyone ever dealt with this, and is there a way to get it resent?

I don't know much from the post office side of it, but I know the USCIS has a whole form you can fill out if you didn't receive you NOA1. Here is a link to the forms:

That’s what happened to us when we were supposed to get our NOA2. We were in the middle of changing addresses and USPS returned it to USCIS for some reason. It took a while. We filled the form online for missing notices. They said they’ll get back to us by a certain date. They emailed us sooner than expected saying they mailed us a duplicate copy as a courtesy. That email was on February 18 and we received the notice a month later.

If it's just the NOA1 it's not that important, you don't need it for anything and I'm sure you can call USCIS and get your receipt number. But you'll still want to receive all future letters from USCIS, so hopefully it's just a one-time thing.

I have in the past seen letters in informed delivery that were only delivered a day or two later, so maybe it's just a matter of giving them some time. We have also seen cases where government letters haven't been delivered because the name of the person wasn't on the actual mailbox, so maybe just put your name on it just in case.
