Hi,

I am an international student on F1 Visa,

A year back, I got my SSN with the following name,

Given Name: (The officer /agent ignored B which was in my given name)
Last Name: C

It was supposed to be the same as from my passport and visa like the following,

Given Name: A B
Last Name: C

FYI : A, B and C concludes my FULL NAME (A B, C)

Three days back I received my EAD / OPT authorization with same name as from my passport and visa. And, I didn't notice until recently that the SSN and EAD / OPT card has a difference in name, which has made me worried.

So, I called the local SSN office to correct my name and requested help to get an appointment. They said, they won't be able to give me an appointment in this pandemic for NAME correction, except for creating an SSN. And, said to provide documents through MAIL, but these docs should be original. Now, I am not sure as an International Student, I am supposed to share documents such as Passport, Visa, I20, EAD / OPT card through post mail because If I lose something because of their mistake, I might be in a position where I wouldn't be able to travel if my company wants me to or worst case I lose my status.

I need advice on how to proceed with this? should I mail them my original documents? or do something else?

Contact your International Student Advisor to see what they say. Just this morning I made a post about not mailing your original documents because SS is known for losing them.
I am a former international student and after I became a resident I had to go back to change my SS card. They weren’t taking in person appointments because of COVID, so I contacted my Congressman so he could request an appt for me. Long story short, I ended up getting my in person appointment. Since you’re not a resident, I’m not sure a congressman can help you, but it would hurt to ask your international advisor.

Thanks @ra0010. Really appreciate your opinion on my matter. I have contacted my school authority, and expecting a reply in few days.

I was just worried because as an International student there a bit of complexities which these offices don't understand and cannot gives us Emergency or Urgent appointments.

I absolutely understand. You’ll see also that not all federal agencies know about immigration too.

Call and ask for express interview.  Cite memo EM-21041 -- https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/reference.nsf/links/05262021015248PM
