Hi Everyone,

I would like to know if I can expedite my parents case. They are old and alone in the country with no one to take care of them, Can I expedite the case so they can be here with me and I can take care of them ?

I have the same question. My mom is widow and alone in home country. I am her only child. Can I expedite her case?

That's not a valid reason as many IR5 beneficiaries are elderly and alone in their home country.  If your parents are alone, the immigration officer reviewing their case can reason that there's nothing of serious consequence that's stopping you from traveling to their country yourself or hiring a caregiver to take care of them.

Remember also that expedites are usually granted based on the USC petitioner's circumstances, not the beneficiary's.  If YOU were seriously ill and need your parents to help care for you, that COULD be a good reason to request for expedite.

I'm in the same boat, sent mine on April 15th, got the email saying they are reviewing it on April 30th and haven't gotten any decision yet, called NVC and they said they forwarded the expedite to the Embassy on April 30. We are IR5 Dominican Republic as well.

Our PD is July 3, 2020

NVC received April 8, 2021

Documents submitted on April 14.

Good luck
