He doesn’t have anyone back there because my mother passed away. He is not able to go there by himself but we need to go together there at least once a year to take care of his medical issues since it is cheaper there and he doesn’t have health insurance here…

That is a good idea … but then I have to pay most part if not all my own income to the care taker! Beside , considering his special needs I doubt if there is any helper could take care of his separation anxiety… he has fallen two times so far and got lost in neighboring…I was not able to work because I can’t leave him alone …I heard there are some programs which family member could be a paid caregiver himself… but couldn’t find any so far! I think he needs to be US citizen before he can use any of these benefits…

Thanks for responding… I did… I am his son… but I need to continually take care of him: feed him, walk him, give his medicine and so on so forth… I can’t leave him alone because of his general condition… I thought there might be some kind of help for this hardship….

Thanks lil bear for quick response… but he is 88 year old now and he is barely able to do his personal daily things with a lot of helps… I just thought there may be some kind of help or exceptional expediting his 5 yr rule to a shorter period which seems there is not any based on your knowledge?! thanks…

Hello there, is this the right room to ask about 5 yr rules? My father is a green card holder just over a year now…considering his age(88) , must he wait full 5 years to apply for citizenship? Or there’s a shorter wait time for him? Also , in concern of his travels back to home country, he must return to United States within ( less than)6 months? Right?! In other words, he can leave United state but he need to re enter less than 180 days? I appreciate to inform me about his traveling abroad in a way not put any harm on his future naturalization process. Also please mention that if we are talking about a calendar year i.e for example 2022 or dates starts from his departure in airport till he comes back any US airport, no matter in what calendar year is happening!? appreciate in advance Afshin

Hello there, is this the right room to ask if my father as a green card holder may get some benefits like cash? What benefits can he get from government during 5 years till he becomes US citizen? Is there any way he can apply for citizenship sooner than 5 years considering his age? thank you afshin

Hi…. Sorry for late response…. I actually updated the timeline for my dad case …. But I don’t know why it did not show up here… we have been in U.S. since January… we had passed all these phrases like PD , DQ and so on in our daily life vocabulary!!!it is like only memory now! good luck to you
