In the next two months I'll be able to apply for citizenship. I came to usa at k1 visa about four years ago and I got my first green card about two and half year ago. So I will be eligible in not two long. And I've been using attorney for my green card.

But I saw online that you can file for citizenship online and it doesn't sound hard.

Do you recommend file online by myself and save some cash? Or you think it's better to use an attorney since its the last step?

Tell me about your experience if you used the online by yourself 🤠

Thank you all

I would say if you can successfully file your own taxes every year, you can file your own USCIS applications. The instructions that accompany the forms are pretty good, and there are plenty of descriptive step-by-step guides on sites like VisaJourney!

My spouse has been doing the taxes every year and I saw some videos in youtube about it, it sounds easy when you watch it. But when I think about it I'm scare if something goes wrong.

It is much easier if you follow the step by step guide. All the information you need are available and accessible. A lawyer is only needed in complicated immigration issue in my opinion.

Just start getting all your documents arranged in pdf so you can upload them.

Good luck

If you have a straightforward case, DIY is easy peasy. When it comes to a complicated case, please go to an Attorney. Good luck!
