Hi all

I asked about changing location a few weeks ago but after researching it I am unsure if I need to change the location. I have both British and Irish citizenship and I was originally living in Ireland when applying for the k1. I am moving to the UK (Northern Ireland) temporarily due to work circumstances, do I now need to change to the London embassy or can I stay with Ireland as I have citizenship there? I thought you had to go where you live but I understand that you could be living somewhere but not have residency and would have to go back to your country of origin for the interview at the embassy. Does anyone have experience of this? As I am moving to Northern Ireland the Irish embassy in Dublin is only two hour drive away whereas the London embassy is on a different island so a little harder to get to. Also I have so far been using my Irish passport so would this make any difference? I also have a British passport.

TIA

I imagine that it's okay for you to stay with the Embassy in Dublin, but you might consider switching over to London if you are going to be staying in the North as Dublin is still basically at a standstill due to Level 5. Might have a faster go with London, at this rate.

I don't think it's much cause for concern, both because you are a dual citizen, and because of how open the border is. Officially speaking, I can't actually say for certain if you should switch over one way or the other, sorry. I do think if the employment/stay isn't indefinite that you don't have to worry though, with how fast things have been moving you'll probably be back in Ireland by the time you get your interview.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

👐

Patience......patience.

Hi,

I can confirm that I am a citizen of country [x] and have been living in Dublin, Ireland due to work since past [x] years - I am resident of Ireland but not a Citizen yet our CR1 interview is scheduled at Dublin embassy as I have been settled here. So I'd think it should be okay in both cases since you have the passport.

Hope that helps, however as Neca highlighted, Dublin embassy is adhering to Level 5 restrictions imposed by our govt. so things are extremely slow here.
