saw this pop up and saw it in Philstar as well! I’m not sure if this means no more tests or quarantine when arriving in Manila or Cebu, but definitely going in the right direction!

My initial interpretation is that they are only talking about domestic travel??? Which even that would be a huge improvement over the chaotic mishmash of rules that exists now.  Waiting to see the actual IATF resolution to see what it really says.

I guess there is the actual resolution.  It remains vague on international  issues but seems to be a huge opening up of domestic travel.

It’s thought to be for domestic travel as many locals are complaining it’s too hard to travel with summer season coming. Doing away with covid test for international arrivals would be against what even most countries are doing. There is no coordinated or common plan in the PI.

also the article says it’s up to the LGUs who have always had stricter requirements then the national government.  All I see changing is some LGUs will make it easier to travel to which will lead to even more mass confusion as everyone does what they want and nobody knows what the hundreds or thousands of LGUs are doing.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

Not sure I understand the order in which things are happening. They still need to address the local quarantine procedures. Many provinces are under MGCQ now. But they still have huge restrictions. People under 18 or over 65 are still not allowed to leave their homes. It's been nearly a year now. How about they address this first so children can get outside to get some physical exercise. It's very damaging both psychological and physiological.

I received the official alert for this and GCQ has been extended in Manila and a few other provinces until at least March 31st.  The COVID test is no longer required for domestic travellers unless the LGU's require it.  Probably youll see this requirement dropped in high tourist areas such as Boracay, etc.

The issue is that many LGUs are being super strict in regards to quarantine measures for people coming in from other areas. For example my nephew was living with his girlfriend in Manila for a couple years before he moved back to their province in Mindanao at the end of January, and even though they had a negative test before travelling they still had to quarantine for 2 weeks when they got to the town.

So why would tourists go somewhere to visit if they have to spend a week or two in quarantine?
