Hello,

I read a lot of posts regarding the sponsor's taxes during the Affidavit of Support step, but what about my spouse in her native country? To be exact, she is in Philippines. Will the interviewer asked if she filed her Philippine taxes and ask for proof or is the interviewer only concerned about me, the sponsor's taxes? She has never worked in the US or for a company in the US. She has only worked for a local company in the Philippines. Will there ever be a point during the CR-1 process where she will need to prove she filed her Philippine tax returns? Thank you in advance.

She would list her income on form I-994 self-sufficient declaration... additionally, some countries make you prove that you don’t owe taxes prior to leaving permanently, not sure about the Phillipines

I-944 is a little up in the air, terrible form to start out with and with the on/off implementation of the public charge rule who even knows if it’s still applicable as part of the process, I know it was when I filed and I had to attach my taxes from Aus in addition to hubbies here in the US... we basically used it as more evidence that our relationship was valid shared household income/assets..
