Changing name at AOS interview

Hi guys,

So stupidly, I put my maiden name on all the paperwork as I didn't realise I could change it then to my married name when filing. Anyway fast forward almost a year, I have my SSN and EAD, all in my maiden name. I was told I can maybe change it in the green card interview (I tried to send a letter to change it before I got my EAD but they didn't receive it in time), I have my interview next Friday, so could I ask them to change it then?

I have my marriage certificate, but mine isn't the type where it has "married name" or anything, it just has both our names and I used my maiden name so not sure if this would even be proof of name change.

I know I could wait and change it for citizenship or replace my green card, but that's a lot of money and I really wanted it changed asap. Any help would be appreciated. I'm kicking myself for not doing this at the start but hey 🤦‍♀️

u can change it when you had interview and bring the marriage certificate that stated ur new surname. mine is from MA and there's section of my full name and then on the second line theres the new surname choice. i chosed not to change my maiden name by my own option. so on the second line that said SURNAME : they type my last (MAIDEN) name

For whatever reason I put my maiden name as my middle name on the AOS application 🤦‍♀️ have to correct that at the interview as well. Glad I was smarter for EAD/ AP.

The marriage certificate doesn't have to explicitly say which name you choose. Getting married is enough to be able to choose one name or the other.
