If you can upload your tax transcripts and also bring it with you during the interview. It is advisable to upload any information requested so your case can at least get moving in the world of USCIS.

Thank you!

I decided to file the paperwork, just sent out.

will see!

good luck everyone

Hi everyone!
i filed online to Chicago Field office on 1/4 ans received my notice same day. Has anyone received their Bio appointment yet?

this is my second time applying for citizenship and last time it only took couple weeks to get my Bio appt, so I am a bit concerned it’s taking longer, but may also be a normal delay by USCIS as per usual.

p.s. hoping for the best for all of us with new president

Hey all,

Just an update.

I called USCIS today in regards to check on the status of my application. As I am sure you all know, when you apply for an N-400 and have a pending I-751, your N-400 will either get adjudicated along with your I-751 or your I-751 will get processed before your N-400. Never will they process your N-400 first.

Now, when applying for an N-400 based on military service, from what I understand, it is not a requirement to have an adjudicated 751 to get your citizenship. So I called today with the excuse of asking if my I-751 will still get processed. The lady that helped me seemed lost because she said she had no idea how a dual 751 and N-400 military application worked.

But, what I did manage to find out what was that both of my I-751 and N-400 have been merged together and they are already in my local office. She also said that my N-400 application is just waiting on one background check and will be ready for an interview once that background check is cleared.

It might not mean much, but the fact that it is already in my local office was definitely great news to hear.

I-751

7/14/20 - Application mailed.

2/11/21 - Called for an update on my case and was told file is in local office.

That’s a great update. I do believe that military service applications are a bit different. This is my second time applying for citizenship. First time I applied 90 days prior to my 3rd anniversary while 751 was pending because it’s been pending almost a year. I was called in for N400 interview and when I got there the officer told me that they only get cases in hand on the day of the I tee view and when he realized that I had 751 pending he said there was nothing he could do and sent me home waiting until i751 case is closed.

well I finally got green card in 2019, 3!!! Years after I applied for i751 however by that time we divorced and yet I was still approved for i751 and they didn’t mention my n400 at all.
then a year later, this October 2020, I was called in for my n400 interview and the officer proceeded with questions and in the end she just asked for a receipt for paid taxes (bring those to your Interview people. I simply forgot I had to pay 3 years ago and just brought return and transcript papers). So she sent me home saying as soon as they get my receipt they will be scheduling the oath.
i got denial letter about month later stating they had to deny because I was divorced and it violated the grounds I applied based on. Even tho my i751 was adjudicated after divorce too.

anyways, I reapplied in January and that’s how I ended up here with you guys. With that being said, it really does depend on the field office, case, and even officer. All cases then go to a “supervisor” who has to sign off on your case before in goes into final stages. But again, it’s so individual and each case is unique.

good luck! Keep us updated on how soon your interview gets scheduled and how it goes.

Wish you luck on your second time. Applying based on the 5 year rule doesn’t require proof or marriage anymore so you will be covered on that.

Hello GreatDane,

I have heard how hard it is to get a hold of Tier 2.

I don’t think I can be of much help. There is a hotline to call specifically for military members and that is the one that I used. I am not sure if they are Tier 1 or Tier 2, but they were able to tell me this information. The contact information for this line is in the link below.
