Hi everyone,

So I already did a search and found similar posts but they were related to K-1.  As you know my fiance and I will be applying for the CR1 visa and will be dealing with the consulate in Casablanca.  We are already compiling proof of relationship of course (ahead of the marriage) and are making lots of screenshots of text conversations and Facetime calls.  The problem is that we have both deleted along the way conversations so we are having a difficult time coming up with screenshots from the early days of our relationship and even that first year.  I feel like one of the biggest mantras you will year on this forum is "time spent together", and so I feel like three visits to his country in 3 years should be sufficient (along with future visits after we submit the CR1 application and before the initial interview) and that we can explain the situation with our chat logs.   Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!  You guys are the best!

If you have talked on facebook during the 1st year,  they have a site on profile of person saying "friends since 20xx"  print that page out

Our conversations on facebook are little more than "hi" and sending each other videos :(  It's not where the bulk of our conversations took place.  We initially were texting on a language app but then moved to iMessage on the phone but we've had problems accessing those older chats.  Did you guys really have messages dating back to when you met and all the way up until the time of your application?

Well unfortunately you can't provide something that you just don't have. I think Jeanne's suggestion regarding the Facebook friends history is helpful. Do either of you still use the language app that you met on? It's a long shot, but maybe contact the developer of the app and see if they have any back up of your accounts or conversations.

While initial chats are commonly asked for in Casablanca, they are not ALWAYS asked for. And again, you can't provide what you don't have, and explaining the situation along with the initial I-130 petition documents could possibly help convince the CO reviewing your case. I'm glad you have a decent amount of visits and time spent in person together, as ultimately that will likely have a greater impact on your case in a positive way.

Yes,  we had the ones from we we starting talking online but i had met him in person months before the chats when i volunteered my PT experience in Morocco and the aunt introduced us ,   i exchanged emails with his brother and he told me Adil was interested in talking / i even had those emails

i had front pages of several free 123 greeting cards we exchanged for holidays

and i sent a few lines of chats covering the many months and years / they don't need thousands of pages which we would have had

but they do want you to verify the first meetings (online and in person)  messages saying Hi is contact and not a problem

More of a issue would be if he said he loved you in message or face visit is the first few days of meeting him. you can read on the US embassy site that that is considered a red flag

I am happy for you that you had such good evidence and you had a good result as well!  We will definitely submit all that we have.  Thanks for the information.  I just feel like not having every text back to the beginning would signal that you were a real couple as real couples sometimes accidently or even intentionally delete texts as a result of an argument or unfriend because you broke up but then got back together.  That's just my opinion which doesn't count of course.

I reached out to the app and they were not helpful at all, but thanks for that suggestion.  I agree that time together is the most important thing.  As I told JeanneAdil, real couples accidentally or otherwise delete texts so you know: stuff happens.  I appreciate your feedback and I hope time spent and length of relationship (3.5 years so far) will ultimately save the day.

Time spent together is and always has been a real plus in Casa embassy

and a marriage is far better than a k1 there

in October 100 CR1 and 130 IR1's were approved  /  5 were VJ members with new October interviews but many of the rest were from long AP security checks

RJHamid were successful with the K1 back a few years but at this time no K1 interviews are happening

Just show the 1st contact you can produce in your application and although the instructions will say , bring more to interview ,  the CO will not even look at them/ however they will note if none are bought in /  the important part of this process is the application and supporting evidence at that time

I’m in Morocco right now. We got married on 30 December. Is there anything I need to get from my husband before I leave tomorrow. Any forms or anything signed for the CR one visa that we will apply for?

marriage certificate is all you will need for required documents

maybe take a look at the I-130A and get the information needed from your husband, but that can be done via email or phone call too

a few photos together

evidence of time spent together (boarding passes, passport stamps, hotel receipts)

start working on as much financial co-mingling as you can (authorized user on your credit card accounts, beneficiary on your life insurance, health insurance, dental insurance, retirement accounts, power of attorney, will, living will, etc.) but most of that can be done while living in separate countries

try to open a joint bank account in Morocco together

Congratulations on your marriage, and good luck with the CR-1 process!

Thanks so much for this helpful information.  I had my husband sign the power of attorney and w7 for taxes before I left.  We were not able to open a joint account in Morocco this trip because we didn't have the act of marriage ready before I left but we will definitely do this on the next trip.

Mot with the petition to USCIS / you will have time to get these for the 2nd stage at NVC

At the NVC stage you will be scanning copy of the IRS transcripts / his name will appear on the transcripts

you need to send the originals of the IRS tax transcripts to him in Morocco to take to interview

Everything that is a scanned copy sent to NVC will need to have the original at the interview

IRS tax transcrpts

his 2 police reports from Morocco

his birth certificate

and anything else that is asked for with the letter of appointment

Thanks for this!  But I think I should have gotten a certified copy of my husband's passport from the ministry of interior when I was there. :(  I don't have any of the supporting documents so he will need to mail me an original or certified copy of either his birth certifcate or passport.  I wish I had known this when I was there!  Oh well!

He can scan the profile page and email as now USCIS accepts a scan

and same with birth certificate

he needs to have documents translated into English and you submit both Arabic and English
