Event Description

Embassy Review : My husband had his interview at 9:00 AM. He got there early and there were already people there. He said the security guards were friendly and respectful. They said "Everything will go well." Once inside there is another scan and they scan your belongings. If you have a phone, you have to turn it off and give it to them and they'll give you a slip of paper to get it back. We had heard that you can't bring a bag but he saw girls there with purses so I think that is allowed. We had a lot of questions about how to dress. My husband was wearing pants and a button-down shirt and a sweater. He mentioned that others were more casually dressed.
He did say the guy dressed in more sporty apparel was a diversity lottery winner. Some of the women wore jeans and sneakers. Basically he said that many were just dressed normally. First he had to give the originals we uploaded at the NVC to a woman. At that point you are standing waiting for your name to be called. They called my husband's name and he went up to the window and put down his binder in front of him. My husband’s total interview time was maybe 4 minutes. The CO was a younger guy and very nice. He greeted my husband saying Salam wadi kum and then Good Morning because my husband didn't hear. The officer mentioned that we got married 3 months after my divorce which is pretty fast. My husband explained we actually met years before that and explained how our relationship had progressed. He asked why my first husband and I got divorced. The rest of the questions were more confirmed than asked. "So your wife is a teacher?" He asked how old my husband is and how old I am. He asked if we wanted to have children, and he asked if I was physically in shape enough to have kids. He was asking questions but in a way that made it clear he already knew the answers. He asked for confirmation about my children from my first marriage. He asked if we traveled to other cities in Morocco. My husband said he read a lot of negative reviews and information about the consulate is largely negative but his experience was extremely positive. He said he wished he could have talked to the CO longer. It was so fast! Also, he brought a binder with originals and copies and lots of evidence of the marriage and photos but he wasn't asked to show anything. We spent so much time on that binder, but it's just what you have to do. You never know what they might want. After the brief interview the officer said "Congratulations your visa is approved. Welcome to the United States. You can pick up your visa at Aramex in a couple of weeks." He also asked my husband if he read the pamphlet about his rights in the U.S. It's good because it tells visa holders what to do if you are a victim of abuse (call 911) and it won’t have any negative affect on your immigration. My husband says just be confident, trust yourself and if your relationship is real everything will be fine. I want to thank everyone who answered our questions along the way and gave us helpful advice. I don't know what we would have done without you guys!

Hi! Thank you so much! We didn't expidite no, but a lot of people who submitted when we did (March 2021) have gotten approved so I think things are moving up at Vermont Service Center. Best of luck to you and don't pay much attention to the predicted approval times for service centers. Ours was much much faster!

My wife got the same interview date. But she didn’t get the packet yet. Is the packet means the interview letter and the requirement paperwork that she needs to take to the consulate? Thank you and best luck to both of them.

@ZOUHAIR514 Wow that's amazing! I actually don't know what the packet is haha! I will try to do some research and find out. We got just that email with links to instructions for the interview. And part of that was to register with ARAMEX, but I we didn't receive an actual packet. Yes best of luck and inshallah we will all be together soon!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
