Good morning everyone!

We are applying for the K-1 visa in Morocco.  We were approved and received our I-797 letter it says the approval dates from 07/07/2020-11/06/2020 and that it had been forwarded to the consulate. I know the interview date will be scheduled past those dates due to the backlog of petitions. My question is, do we need to file the DS-160 now or wait until the consulate in Casa sends us an email saying they received the case? Also the embassy schedules the interviews correct and sends them in an 'email packet'?

Thank you for your help in advance! 🙂

Unless the embassy changes their order of  doing things,  new K1's coming in will be  sent a notice to sign into their site (as given in the letter) and sign up for the interview  / they are scheduling the K1's that were cancelled

do not do the medical exam till you know when the interiew is as that is the date of a visa (if approved) plus you need the letter from embassy to schedule one

the USC should be gathering IRS tax transcripts from 2019 (as needed if interview happens before the 15th of April)

the USC will need to send the 1 134 and tax transcripts to the Moroccan for the interview

as for ds 160 i refrain from an answer as it changed since i did a K1

but others will help you on this

Hey, I'm doing mine with the Russian embassy and currently also doing the DS-160 as well. Now, I was told on a K-1 visa thread that I can do the DS-160 while waiting for our embassy in Moscow to open. So, I would say go ahead and get it out the way. Just my opinion based on what I read.

If you are scheduling your own interview then you must complete the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application prior to paying and scheduling your interview. In your case the interview scheduling is done by the embassy so you would have up until the interview to complete the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. You can't complete the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application without your case number. Good luck and stay engaged.
