Pay stub - Paying Social Security

Since I'm aware you have to have 40 Credit to Earn the Social Security pay when you retire, but how would that applies to Immigrant that doesn't have 40 earned credits? Do they need to submit any at all?

Unless you are self employed and pay into quarterly estimated taxes as required for your own ,  you would do nothing

the employer takes taxes out of your check and reports and pays this quarterly

sorry ,  i should have added,   yes,  if you work independently (on your own)  you have to pay all your taxes including Social security

What about immigrant that doesn't serve long enough to complete the social security to get their own benefits?

Yes, you still have to contribute even if you won't accrue the 40 credits.

Doesn't matter even a person on work permit that is not going to stay  in the US (just here temporary) has to pay ALL  taxes

and SS is a tax on income

this should be withheld by your employer

why would you think you are not going to work 40 quarters?   10 years?

 

I should correct that statement for students who fill out a W4 for no withholding of federal and  taxes

 

To declare you're exempt from federal income taxes, you'll write the word "exempt" on line 7 of your W-4 form. You'll still have Social Security, Medicare and any state or local taxes taken out as usual.

I'll have to investigate further then. I've known some US Citizen skipping out on it because they are not earning it back as in not paying it in, they won't have any of that SS benefit when the time come because they are skipping out on it.

read my posts says even if you do not have to file for federal tax withholding (like a student can do) you still have to pay into Social Security and  Medicare and other state taxes

you can't change the system to fit your personal self

your employer has to withhold money for SS and the other from your pay and pay employer's share (they even pay for your unemployment benefits on their own)

unless you are self employed and pay quarterly into IRS the estimated amount due  

but if you work in the US , you are expected to pay into SS and taxes due

if you want the benefits of living and working here,  stop trying to cheat the US

Did found out a few things that has gone unmentioned.

There has been a few position, one of them is an officer of some kind but I don't remember which, doesn't do it while they are getting a pension on the other hand. Seem to be a very old tactic thing.

 

Anyone who is working for a work from home job usually have a 1099 form and those doesn't automatically take out anything at all (federal taxes, social security, Medicare, etc.) and funds has to be put aside for that. Looking at the IRS page for income bracket and what to put aside may help for an idea of what to put aside. Even though I have no idea how are the social security taxes are supposed to be paid, is that through the tax filing season?

 

Anything else I'm missing?
