BS: Chemistry with a minor in applied mathematics

Was enrolled in a Ph.D. program in physical chemistry -- finished all the classwork but not the research to get the degree

I went to grad school to become a professor. I wanted to teach chemistry. However, once I started to work with a professor, I realized their life was not for me and I left to teach at the high school level. Although chemistry is truly my first love, I have taught physics for the past 2 out of 8 years. I love it soooooooo much. It is kind of funny where life takes you. As a student, I never took my physics courses real seriously. I blew off the last quarter of it in high school and in college I would just go to class for the exams (did well though  ).

Proud graduate from the "School of Hard Knocks"

I went to school for probably a total of five years off and on after retiring from the military and do not have a degree.

I first studied for, get this, it is legit, a Golf Management Degree here:

http://www.golfcollege.edu/index.shtml

Planned on pursuing a career in sales in the golf industry but soured on that after a year and a half. The uppity ups did not like the fact I had tattoos. Had three interviews at Callaway and then they said I got a job if I remove the tattoos. Use your imagination on what I told them.....

I then went to school for two years to get a degree in Network Administration but left at the start of my last semester to accept a position as a systems engineer.

I attended numerous JC's and colleges courses while in the military. Uncle Sam has paid for all my tuition, books, subsistance, supplies, etc..........

I have to say the best education I had was serving in the military so many intangibles that a college education cannot provide. The fact that I retired from the military has directly impacted me being offered positions over individuals with much more exemplary educational qualifications. Not a knock on a good college education so don't take it that way.

Hey! I was in that for one semester in North Carolina. I was choosing between Penn State and NC for golf management. I didn't care much for the South (no offense) and I also didn't care being the only girl among 30 guys in the PGM program. I got out quick!

I still like golf though.

Where were you in the program?

I have the very marketable (cough) BA in Political Science with a minor in History (emphasis on Middle Eastern History).

I am a mortgage broker, and a business owner. I do think I use the thought process I learned in Political Science.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I didnt go to university, but in quebec there is something called "CEGEP" that offers a 3 years degree in a technical program.

So I did 2 years in Biology-chemistry program that I didnt complete, and then I switched to Animal-health program and got my degree as an Veterinarian assistant.

I ended up in a Histopathology department in a laboratory and both programs were useful to me.

Derekkj, that's really cool. You're the only Welsh History grad I've ever heard of!

:star:

Thanks, Christina! I am the first (and probably last) one at my university. Studied at UC Swansea for a term and loved it, but not much call for Welsh history experts in the US so now it's just a hobby.

So cool:-)! I did my degree with a major in Classical Studies and a minor in Drama. I then went to college and did a diploma in Museum Technology, and worked the next 25 years as a Museum professional (Registrar/Curator of Collections/Curator/Exhibtion Design) and here in the States am currently working part-time as a docent at a heritage site. (don't want the headache of administration again). While I didn't work specifically in my field of degree studies I applied the skills I used to aquire that degree every day of my museum career.

I remember that Canadian job thread where there were a whole bunch of us VJ museum professionals! I mostly love it, (expecially playing with, I mean carefully handling with white gloves, historic objects) but it certainly pays shite. To help pay the bills, I am also a part-time docent at a historic house in Old Town Alexandria, VA. Thank god they don't ask expect me to dress in period costume.
