Interview scheduled, should i still apply to renew ead?

Hey everyone, so my aos interview has been scheduled

I was in the process of completing my ead renewal paperwork, planning on sending it in the next couple weeks which gives it around 179 days until expiry.

Worse case scenario, if we were denied aos greencard at the interview, and had to reapply for aos, would the ead renewal application (if sent before interview) still be valid or would it be automatically cancelled as the i485 was denied?

Obviously we are expecting this to not happen, and for things to go well, but im just curious as to whether we should still send the ead renewal paperwork just to be safe and have it in the pipeline being processed.

TIA

Go ahead and send the renewal forms. There's no guarantee that you will get the green card right after the interview. Some officers say they want to take a better look at the case and it can take months until they finally Approve it.

If your AOS is denied, the renewal forms will also be automatically denied.

And if you AOS is denied,  your current unexpired EAD card would be automatically cancelled as well

Thanks for the info.  I hadnt really considered that the unexpired ead would be cancelled but it does makes complete sense. Heres to hoping the interview goes well

We're rooting for you! Good luck and let us know how it goes! Out of curiosity, when did you file for AoS?

Thabkyou! We sent the aos package on, i believe, october 14th. It was the day before the changes were supposed to go into affect if i remember correctly.

It was pushed back to Feb. 24, 2020 because SCOTUS had to weigh-in the DHS v. New York case: https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-processes-and-procedures/public-charge/injunction-of-the-inadmissibility-on-public-charge-grounds-final-rule
